Does washing machine heat it's own water??

My boiler has stopped working, so no hot water.
Is the washing machine affected by this? Or does the washing machine have a way of heating up the water independent of the boiler?

It heats its own water

Majority of washing machines are cold fill only so heat up their own water

Most machines are cold fill so heat their own water

Depends on the washing machine. Modern ones heat it but some older ones used to connect to the hot tap as well as the cold. I had one that used to cool the hot water as it filled Hmm. Which tap/s is yours connected to?

Elledouble · 04/06/2017 18:48

Most modern ones, yeh.

I think only fairly old washing machines take in hot water. You can tell his if there's a red pipe as well as a blue one.

What make/model is your machine?

LuxuryWoman2017 · 04/06/2017 18:52

Mine was new but when the boiler went the machine wouldn't heat the water. Nobody believed me but I think it was the tap it was connected to.

It's a Siemens s12.38
There's only a blue pipe

Blue is for cold water

Even old washers that had hot fill still had a heater and thermostat so could be connected to a cold fill only if no hot feed was available.
