Red wine stain on carpet

Says it all really. A cream carpet at that. I have blotted it with a damp cloth and then used some carpet cleaner. It is still wet so can't tell how bad it is. Can anyone suggest something that works to remove the stain please?

I don't think my first aid will really work and am gutted if I have ruined a perfectly decent carpet.

Spilled red wine on white carpet at weekend. Poured some white wine over it and then soda water and soda crystals. ( I googled!).

Stain completely gone

Lakeland sells some stuff that works

Grind loads of salt over the stain. Leave overnight. Hoover. Gone.
(Well that's what we used to do in my student shared house back in the day iirc!)
