Are there any pillows which you really can wash without destroying them?

Pillows get manky and generally unhygienic over time, but every time I've washed them I end up with lumpy horrors - even if they're specifically marketed as "Washable, honest, you can absolutely shove these in the machine without them turning into lumpy horrors". Looking at you Slumberdown.

Is there an answer? Are there any nice pillows which you really can wash and tumble dry? Synthetic or natural, I don't care. And I have a John Lewis voucher burning a hole in my pocket so money pretty much no object. Or is the answer just to get loads of pillow protectors and wash them instead??

Yes!

Look for "Microfibre Cluster" filling - normally goes by the name "Down Feel" - As they feel like down (but don't come with the horrific manufacturing of Down).

THESE are the exact ones I have - I went for the Superking size ones, they fit in standard pillowcases, but are then a bit fuller.

They wash beautifully.
