How does one choose a tumble dryer?

Sitting in laundromat on a Sunday night, and so over it. Winter is coming in Aus, and I'm not doing another one without a dryer.

It would have to sit against an interior wall of the house, so how does it vent?? Any mid-range brand recommendations?

Not much time for googling around at the moment, so any anectodal advice massively appreciated. Thanks in advance. Flowers

Miele or Bosch condenser dryer. My Miele is 20yrs old & is fabulous!

Thanks Chicken! I think Miele is out if my price range tbh, but I have a Bosch dishwasher and it's great.

Does condenser dry as quickly as vented, then?

I look at the reviews on ao.com
I bought an economical aeg lavatherm one

It's got a condenser which is a box which collects the water which you then tip out.
It's brilliant :)

Have a Miele condense drier. It is amazing. Takes about 1.20 to dry a load. So nice and fluffy!

I have a Bosch condenser. It's amazing. It takes a kg more than my washing machine so I know a full load will always fit.

BTW, make sure you price match at at whatever store is easiest for you. I got about $200 off my Bosch at the Good Guys because Harvey Norman had a sale on at the time.

Beware of the new heat pump dryers; they're super energy efficient, so cheaper to run, but ours takes an aaaaaaage to dry stuff. I wish I'd thought about that.

Very handy to know, Nemos. I was just wondering whether it was worth forking out the extra for heat pump. Not a fan if it's going to take longer though.

very annoying that we can't just shove a forgotten shirt in the dryer 30 minutes before going out grrrrr

I was planning to get the Samsung one based purely on the fact I have a Samsung washing machine and like it a lot. I chose it because I liked the way the knob bit looked and clicked round.

I tried doing proper research but finally accepted I don't have a clue so went for the shiny one. So far so good Grin
