White vinegar and floorboards!

I'm having a nightmare! I've recently moved house and the bathroom was carpeted - it stank! We ripped it up this morning to lay vinyl but the smell is in the floorboards. I read that bicarb + white vinegar scrubbed in would get rid of the smell, so I tried it. Some of the vinegar went between the floorboards (hoping no pipes get damaged) because they're majorly uneven. But my bathroom STINKS now - it's a mix of vinegar and wee and I don't know what to do to get rid! Envy

Leave the vinegar to dry out. Will take at least overnight. Stick your heating on. The smell does go.

Thank you - I'm just concerned I've used too much (although I think it's only about 3/4 capfuls) - doesn't help that I hate the smell of vinegar either!

No that won't be too much at all. I was imagining you had completely soaked the floorboards! Grin

Bicarb actually neutralises the effect of vinegar (acid + alkaline). Neat distilled (white) malt vinegar would neutralise the urine smell and not smell once dry. I think the bicarb is the issue.

I've mopped, swept and hoovered so hopefully the bicarb is gone now!
