can I make my washing machine go unmoldy?

its on the rubbery bits on the door - had a scrub at it and got some of the mold stuff off. Then I saw what the in between bits of rubber looked like shock

what can I do? Obv I know know this is what happens when you forget to take washing out the machine blush

Dettol laundry cleanser, one cap in the rinse cycle every wash will get rid of the grot. Run your machine (empty) at 90 degrees every month). Happy washing.

It's all about regular maintenance. Stop using liquid detergents, they gunk up and damage your machine. The quick setting is also bad news. It rushed everything and doesn't do a proper job on your clothes. Instead use a biological powder that contains colour safe oxygen bleach, this helps to keep the bacteria at bay and is very effective at keeping your clothes and mahcine clean. Also, use the longer washing cycles, they clean better, wash everything at 40°c and whites, towels and bedding at 60°c. Cleaner laundry and a cleaner machine = happy and mould free.

I had this regularly and it smeared all over my whites as I took them out of the machine!

I find the only way I can keep on top of it is to rub bleach around the rim with kitchen towel, until the kitchen towel comes clean, and then do a super hot wash with bleach in the drum.

I do this once a month. I tired doing it without bleach but it wasn't as effective and needed doing every fortnight to actually work. So I always use bleach now.

If you don't have small children or pets, leave the door open between washes.
