I live by lists and ticking things off, I used to suffer with depression and started really small ie get up shower, go buy food, ect. Loved getting to the end of the day and seeing lots of ticks, it's a habit that's stuck.

Funnyonion17 · 08/05/2017 21:14

Seeing other peoples clean houses, guests

BusyBee2017 · 08/05/2017 21:15

lol guests used to motivate me too... never cleaned or tidied unless somebody was coming over lol

Crunchy floors Grin

Tootsiepops · 08/05/2017 21:15

Guests coming over, or my toddler finding and eating food she's found from goodness only knows where / when.

wobblywonderwoman · 08/05/2017 21:15

I enjoy it. I like my home more than I like clothes and make up etc. So I feel proud of it.

BusyBee2017 · 08/05/2017 21:15

Now it's lists and also have a clean and clutter free house

Visitors. We get people calling round often, without warning Hmm

BarchesterFlowers · 08/05/2017 21:18

Guests here too - especially when my mother visits twice a month for lunch.

I find a squirt of polish in the hall (even if it is in the air Wink) gives a good impression.

We seriously only thoroughly clean before guests, a manic morning and then peace for two weeks. DH vacuums every other day (dog) and I wipe down the kitchen and the bathroom sinks most days but a big dust, vacuum of sofas, mopping the floor, cleaning the bathrooms properly only happens twice a month.

Bluntness100 · 08/05/2017 21:20

I've a cleaner and clutter free also, but seriously, I don't know what's wrong with me. I actually clean because I want to now. I was a right sloven when i was younger. The older I get the more of a clean freak I become. I draw the line at doing the bathrooms though. I just can't stand looking at mess or dirt. 😱

BarchesterFlowers · 08/05/2017 21:22

We don't really have mess, the hoover/daily wipe down of bathroom sinks/kitchen deals with anything visible. It is only the other stuff I mentioned that we do and honestly unless you were looking you wouldn't really notice.

Enb76 · 08/05/2017 21:24

Nothing much. Guests, I clean up for guests. Living room is currently an horrific nightmare and I currently close the door on it. Kitchen, little sitting room and daughter's bedroom was done today, bathroom yesterday, my room is a tip. Garden looks lovely though, all tidy and beautiful.

Funnyfarmer · 08/05/2017 21:27

Cleaning porn!
I know it sounds sad. But if I'm struggling with motivation I watch cleaning videos on YouTube. Then I pretend I'm making one Grin
Also shows like OCD cleaners and and how clean is your house gets me right in the mood.

moutonfou · 08/05/2017 21:29

I never have guests, maybe that's my problem... Grin

I'm motivated by how good I feel when it's done. Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't...

I also set myself a basic standard - clutter cleared, washing up is done, clean clothes put away and dirty clothes in the basket, do a load of washing if needed - enough to make the house a pleasant place to be in. So on a lazy day I will just pluck up the motivation to make that happen and leave the actual cleaning for another day.

Consideredintrusion · 08/05/2017 21:39

Shame mainly. Or hormones.

Chocness · 08/05/2017 21:45

Order, lists and guests in that order!

Glittermakeseverythingbetter · 08/05/2017 21:49

Cleaning videos on YouTube for me as well. And Hoarders Grin
Today they motivated me to wipe down the shelves in my bathroom cupboards.

Mysterycat23 · 08/05/2017 21:51

Shame. Irritation. Dust bunnies.

Watching the hoarders tv show.

Haven't cleaned for visitors since I was early 20s..

BusyBee2017 · 08/05/2017 21:53

Hoarders I've not heard of that one

Maybe I should watch that because I hoard my clothes - I just don't get rid of them unless they are ripped lol

Nospringflower · 08/05/2017 21:54

I cant sit down and relax if there is too much mess or if I know guests are coming.

HorraceTheOtter · 08/05/2017 21:55

Guests, feeling angry or DS/DH telling me I need to clean. Or when the floor feels a little crunchy.

HorraceTheOtter · 08/05/2017 21:56

It's always tidy, I can't sit down if it isn't tidy. Just doesn't seem to extend to clean...

rollonthesummer · 08/05/2017 22:12

Shame!

PunkrockerGirl · 08/05/2017 22:14

Guests.
Fortunately we don't have that many Grin
