Just wondering - are you a mophead sort of a girl or do you use one of those squeezy sponge mops? which is better? For floors, that is!.

Neither. I use a cloth. Much easier than anything on a stick.

I am still looking for the perfect mop. Last week I decided to 'treat myself' (how lucky am I?!!) to a new mop. DD got very bored as I dithered for about half an hour over which one to get. I've got a horrible shiny laminate in living room & tile effect laminate in the kitchen. Kitchen is easy to clean but shiny laminate is a nightmare, whatever I clean it with I always have to end up on my hands & knees wiping it as you can see the streaks & it looks auful.. I ended up buying a microfibre mop (like an old fashioned mop but microfibre) it's ok but not brill. So I am still searching for that ideal dream mop! IMO you can't beat hands & knees job. But will be lurking around here hoping that someone will prove me wrong

vileda mop

Callmemadam · 13/03/2007 20:44

Hhhmm - I am a vileda mop girl myself or at least She who Cleans my Floor for me for Vast Moolah is... but I find myself wondering if it doesn't just spead the dirt and dog hair around . Also, know that in France it is impossible to buy mops as frnch housewives seem to swear by the rag 'n' bucket principle - unless ggg is around to prove me wrong

I'd have said microfibre. I like the fact that you don't have to use much water, and no other cleaning products if you don't really need to, and that you can just take the mop head off and chuck it in the washing machine. Feels cleaner, somehow.

I am fascinated by microfibre mops/ cloths. How can something be hygenically clean with only water?

twinsetandpearls · 13/03/2007 22:44

mophead, the squidgy thinks don;t allow you to your back into it as my MIL would say.

BadHair · 13/03/2007 22:46

Another vileda squeezy mop here.

I'm lookig with interest as this question bothers me for years. I have a microfiber mop and I don't think it's very good but the other mops staqy wet the whole time. i'm sure they collect more dirt then one can imagint. What's the answer? My mum was for ever on her knees moping the floors but the cloth she was using, if you smelt, you'd honestly feel dizy! i had at least 4 mops including the stingy mop I couldn't stand. I'd love to know what do people do.

Oh, dear, how many misspellings!
