Washing puffa jacket with no tumble dryer

Is it possible to do this with ruining it?

The jacket in question is a toddler's so it has a hard life and has got really mucky. I'm embarrassed to let him be seen in it in public (it's currently worn in the garden only), but I'm also worried that by washing it and not tumbling it, I'll send the stuffing all lumpy and it will be ruined! Is there any way to avoid this?

Could you pop it down to a launderette to dry it? Alternatively, hang it out to dry and give it regular vigorous shakes

I have done it before, it came out fine, just shake a lot as it dries.

I guess the tennis ball wash method is for an adult size jacket but principle still applies?
