Cleaning steam mop pads

Long time lurker, first time poster...

I love my steam mop. I really do. But hate, hate cleaning the microfibre pads. Any genius tips?

I usually use 2 per cleaning session. Whack then in w/machine on a quick 40 degree wash then wash again with a larger load of cleaning cloths / bath mats. Seems wasteful though to put machine alone for first wash, yet they are too grubby IMO to go straight in with main wash.

I have previously tried soaking in a bucket before main wash or hand washing but they don't get very clean.

TBH even after 2 machine washes they don't seem very clean. Clearly my floors are grim. Grin

I put mine in with my (dark) towels in a 60°C they come out like new.

I agree with happened - stick them in with towels. I do that with any cleaning cloths, dust sheets, etc.

I sometimes just soak them in a bucket of cold water with a milton tablet or give it a swirl with some water and washing up liquid. I sometimes do a service wash on the washing machine and stick them in there was well

My washing machine has a rinse programme, so I give them a quick rinse alone and then add the rest of a hot wash.
