I have a slightly stupid question about my friend's coffee machine

I'm staying in my friend's house while she's away and making good use of her rather fancy coffee machine. It's one like in the picture with a sticky out handle, like in a coffee shop.

But how do I get the disk of hard, damp, compacted coffee out of the holder?

Is there a trick?

I end up waggling it out with a teaspoon but it doesn't feel right.

You turn it upside down and tap it over the food recycling bin and it pops out.

I tried tapping. And whacking. But it didn't pop out.

I used to waggle with a teaspoon too but now I have a knock-box which is a round container with a round bar across the middle which you bang on and the grounds fall into. I'll try and find a pic. You could get your friend one as a gift!
