How to to kill the curry smell in my cupboard

New house and the last owner kept all his spices in one cupboard. It smells really strongly of curry powder. I want to keep my glasses in there but everything has a faint curry taint to it. I scrubbed the shelves with lemon juice and left the doors open when we away over the weekend. Now the whole kitchen smells of curry as well as the cupboard.... any good ideas?

Have you tried leaving a bowl of bicarbonate of soda in there? Curry is tough to shift though.

Just bicarbonate or bicarbonate in water?

Scented cat litter in a dish?

Bowl of water with a peeled potato floating in it? (works for gloss paint smell so worth a go)

I just use the powder, no water. Cat litter seems like it should work too.

Keep your own spices in that cupboard?

highinthesky whilst that would be sensible its the main double glass fronted cupboard! So best for all my glasses rather than my few spices!

Clean the cupboard with sugar soap - take the shelves out and clean both sides and all edges. Let everything air dry and put a bowl of bicarb in there, or better still one on each shelf.
