We have been given a new(ish) fridge by dp's nan as she has had to move into a care home and hers is bigger than ours.

It's only a year or so old but it REEKS of fishSad

Dp has scrubbed it down multiple times, taking out all of the bits that can be taken out and cleaned those etc.

It was left with gone off food when he cleaned it. All the food was thrown and it was left empty, scrubbed and switched off for a few days.

Well now its in our kitchen it still stinks. It's not switched on yet (to let the coolant settle). so there are two fridges in our tiny kitchen now

I've left the doors open in the hopes of airing it out but it smells very strongly.

Please wise vipers help get rid of this awful fishy pong!

Put bicarbonate of soda in an open bowl in the fridge - it's good at taking the pongs away!

Check the little drain hole at the back near the bottom. It will probably lead to a little plastic reservoir that is removeable. Most likely this little hole will be coated with horrible yellow crud and the reservoir will need to be emptied and washed.

yes to checking the reservoir and pipe leading to it.

cleaning with water & white vinegar also helps and deodorises.

Put a tea bag in the fridge. It helps!!

Mug of dry coffee granules left inside for a few days

I second the suggestion of a bowl of bicarbonate of soda in the fridge, and also cleaning the drain hole at the bottom.
