How many hours do I need a cleaner?

I'm looking to get a cleaner in as no matter what I do the place always seems filthy!

I'm just wondering how long I would need.

3 bed semi, hallway, small family bathroom, downstairs loo, small kitchen, long utility, long lounge, conservatory.

It's the kitchen and bathrooms that need the most attention. Surfaces, loos, sinks, bath/shower etc and floors. I'd want those done every week.

I'd like the place hoovered too - so lounge, hall, stairs and two bedrooms (third room is DH's lair and I leave him to his filth).

Conservatory is laminate so just a quick Hoover and occasional mop maybe.

I'm happy to do own dusting but maybe get some help with blinds on occasion. No window cleaning.

So for kitchen, bathrooms and all the hoovering - how long will I need?

I am a cleaner!! I would say 3 hours for a jolly good job!!
If some weeks there is some spare time for some ironing just leave the basket and board out!!

Interesting ! I was thinking this myself, how much is the going hourly rate ? I'm up north if that makes any difference?

We are a cleaning service up north (fully booked right now sorry) but we charge around £15 per hour plus VAT.

I say 'around' because we are the 'flat rate per job' model but that's the approx hourly rate we need to bring in.

This is for a fully managed, fully equipped service level. I do understand agencies can be cheaper but cannot not offer the same service level. It depends on what you want really, as with anything, you should get what you pay for. There's a cheaper end and a more expensive end to any service.

I know cleaning ladies and some agencies can offer service for just £10 per hour but this will be for unregulated services you must manage yourself and then prices go all the way up to £25 ish per hour for the larger private franchises.

As I said, it depends upon what you need really.

I forgot to add (which was the point I think if the house is kept tidy and is in good condition that about 2.5 to 3 hours would be ok.

If untidy/unprepared for cleaning each week then about 3 to 4 hours would then suffice.

I run a cleaning business and would say 2-2.5 hours would be sufficient.
