for a family of 4, two adults two DC's how many towels do you have each?

Washing baskets, soild i.e plastic and round or fabric squashable types, which do you have and which work best in your house?

Clothes baskets how many do you have? do you have 1 for each person to make sorting of laundry more efficient?

H and I have two towels each. Dc have one each as I grab them all plus bathmat and wash them together so they're dry for bath time.
We have one double laundry basket for lights and darks which everyone uses.

Two adults and two teens. Everyone has two towels which are their own. Then a pile of random towels in the top of my wardrobe as spares.

We have one central laundry basket on the upstairs landing. A large square wicker basket. I only wash whatever finds it way into the laundry basket. The teens will often dump clean items back into the laundry basket, so I shake them out, spray with febreeze and return them.

Massive pile of towels of varying degrees of age as I've never thrown any away. But in use I have 2, DH has 2 and the 2 dc use off the pile, although not fresh every time - they get hung up in the airing cupboard.

Dirty washing - 1 washing basket in airng cupboard for dcs, 1 in our bedroom for us and 1 on top of the tumble drier for cloths, gym kit that gets dumped there etc.

Clean washing - no baskets, there is an ironing pile on the spare room bed. Non ironing clothes go straight upstairs when I take them off the airer - put mine away, leave DH's on the bed and dc's on the airing cupboard shelf for them to put away. Sometimes I do the ironing and it gets put away, sometimes we just take the unironed clothes and wear them.

Five of us here, I counted my towels a few weeks ago. I have 20 bath sheets, 35 bath towels and then heaps of hand towels. And yes I know I have a problem

wow lots of replies thanks everyone - sonlypuppyfat that is lots! ive not counted mine but have recently bought 4 bath sheets as the towels seem to have shrunk over the yrs! Im thinking here we need 2 each plus a couple of spares, wil lneed a good sort of the airing cupboard.

I have 1 decent round plastic laundry basket and several smaller squashy ones and am a nightmare for using shopping bags for laundry also! I need to streamline the process.

Poltergoose - i keep one of the baskets in the utility to sort the whites as everything else gets washed,

so i think i have too many baskets and 2 should be enough! thanks for your help :)

I have 3 sets for everyday use for my DH and I, consisting of Bath towel each, one hand towel and one bath matt. These last a week and then get washed at 60. I have decent spares for guests and us.

2 adults and 2 under 5s, we have two bath sheets each, each girl has a bath towel (for hair) and a hand towel in each bathroom (plus two spares in airing cupboard that are never used).

Loads of towels.

Washing baskets in each bedroom and the bathroom.

No laundry baskets - stuff gets folded off the rack/from the drier, ironed if needed and put in piles on the dining room table - shirts hung on back of chair next to persons pile and then put away by the person whose pile it is. Me or DP put towels and general washing away as needed.

Family of four, 2 adults and 2 young DC.

I have 4 bathsheets, 9 bathtowels and about a million handtowels of varying quality. Nobody has their own, it's just a communal shelf, I file clean ones on the bottom of the piles and we help ourselves to the next top one.

Washing baskets: I've just got rid of our laundry bin as our bathroom is now too small. We have a big laundry bag hanging off the airing cupboard door which comes downstairs most days and is emptied into the washing machine. White clothes get hoicked out and left in a plastic washing tub above the machine til there are enough to fill a load (about once every 8-9 days).

Clothes baskets: One tub for clean unfolded clothes then sorted into one tray for each person.

A spare folding basket for extra piles of washing (bedding, towels, stripped off muddy sports kit etc.) This comes and goes as required.

Towels:
For our (me and DH) bathroom. I gave two huge bath sheets (for me), two bath towels (him), four hand towels, two hair towels (me) and half a dozen flannels.

Kids bathroom, about six bath towels, a dozen hand towels and lots of flannels. They get stacked in the cupboard and they take from the top of the pile.

Laundry baskets:
Two in our room (one for whites, other for darks). One each in the DCs rooms.

Washing baskets:
I have three of those large flexible plastic 'trugs' from the garden centre. I present an empty one to DS and say "I want all your dark/light washing" and they bring it down to the machine. DD does all her own laundry when she is home from uni so I don't need to worry about her.

Dry clothes that need ironing go in the wicker "ironing basket", dry clothes that don't need ironing get folded straight off the line/clothes horse and put on bed in relevant room. DC put their own away, Whichever one of us took our things upstairs puts ours away (but he always puts my bras away wrong 🙀).

Two adults and two pre-schoolers here. DH has two I think he only needs one, I have two, DD1 has one plus a small hair towel, DD2 has one (not much hair yet). They get washed once a week.

We have loads of extra towels but they only come out for guest or if we've been unable to wash the main set or something.

Washing basket - I have one wicker one. Having only one is a bit of a PITA but does instil discipline about putting laundry away.

Laundry baskets - three in our room, lights, darks (wicker) and delicates (the delicates is a shopping bag, I really need to upgrade it!)
