Bad Housekeeping! - How do I shrink a wool jumper?

I am going to make a wool soaker from it so need it to go all felty and dense.
Do I just bung it in the machine at 90deg?

My mum knitted (can you imagine?) wool vests for DD when she was born. I washed them the first time at 40c and they came out about barbie size
