Pairs of socks in washing

So would it be really scuzzy to wash socks in their pairs? I mean twinned as you'd put them away in the drawer?

I'm spending a bit of time pairing socks every Sunday evening (42 pairs minimum) and it's cheesing me off!

No - when we were kids we had coloured sock rings that joined socks in pairs at the ankle end in the wash. A brilliant idea.

We use this sort of thing

From 42 pairs minimum I take it you have children? Sock sorting is children's work in this house. Sunday evening in front of the TV, I think they sort of enjoy it.

I've tried using the dcs to do it. They just end up throwing all the socks at each other.

4 dcs and me and h. Lotsasocks.

So it is skank to wash them paired up - I mean in a ball?

I dry everything in the heated airing rack.

I wouldn't - they wouldn't get properly clean (or dry) if they were all balled up.

DH takes his socks off and balls them up together, drives me insane. They do not wash properly IMO and definitely don't dry in the tumble dryer.

I considered this - (sorry don't know how to do a short link)

no, they will not wash properly and take ages to dry and go fusty.
when I grew up each of us had a mesh bag for our socks, so no sorting

Ylvamoon · 20/02/2017 20:15

Our socks are colour coded... gray , blue, black, crazy colour... It's so much easier to pick out and match pairs!
Alternatively look for "oddsocks" on ebay or Amazon... Grin

A mesh bag each. That's the answer. Brilliant.
