How can I make my office smell nice?

I have my own small office at work and get paranoid about it smelling fresh.....the thing is that air fresheners or plug ins or sprays or anything chemically gives me a terrible headache. And I think h&s would mean candles out of question.

Also I don't want the smell to be too obvious, just fresh. I do like eucalyptus/menthol type smells which have the added bonus of clearing my sinuses this time of year! But olbas oil seems a bit medical....! Can anyone recommend a nice reed diffuser or something else that would work?

I use a Laura Ashley beachcomber diffuser. It won't clear your sinus but it is a nice fresh smell.

Black peppercorn diffuser from Molton brown. It is very subtle.

Do you have a window you can open or is it air conned? Fresh air reallybisvtge best thing to ensure there aren't any stale smells.

Failing that, something Monty or herby might work rather than floral. The White company do a mint range with a diffuser that's really fresh smelling.

Minty not Monty. As lovely as Monty Don is, I don't think he'd make your office smell very fresh. Earthy maybe.

There's a White House reed diffuser that's minty-mint and basil I think? I find their diffusers work really well

Lime and bay.

You could also half-fill a decorative, shallowish container with bicarb.

That'll absorb any 'negative' staleness or odour. Change it twice a week for optimum effect.

I like combining fragrances.
I'm sure that a medley of Monty Don, Lime and Bat would be lovely

A mug half filled with hot water and then a few drops of lemon oil added will make everything smell nice and fresh but won't draw attention to itself.

To add to my 1st post:

I'm also hyper-sensitive to many air fresheners/ reed diffusers etc. (severe migraine sufferer). It's a bugger, isn't it, when they're fragrances you otherwise love?

This minty Origins pulse point cream doesn't trigger me, actually soothes and smells refreshing (tends to linger in the air, so would gently fragrance your office at the same time! Win-win).

My tiny bottle is still going strong 16 months on, so well worth the outlay.

But surely these are all only masking, mixing nasty and nice smells together? I don't know if it's feasible, but worth talking to office cleaners. If you walk into the cleaning cupboard, it can be a big give away-stale mops, hoovers which have never had filters replaced etc. I have been in buildings where you can tell the caretaker has opened the cupboard 100m away

An indoor mint plant?

Yes! I have little pots of mint, rosemary and lavender in my office at work. They cheer the place up and smell lovely but subtle, and you can always give them a waft or crush a leaf if you need a bit of an aromatherapy boost (or if a slightly less-than-fragrant colleague has been visiting).

Put a few drops of scented oil on a radiator. M&S have lots - they are pot pourri refreshers - what about pot pourri?

I've got one of these www.madebyzen.com/soto and I use the grapefruit and mint oil which I find really refreshing and no horrid chemical smell.

ZOFLORA

I have a microcloth and I run it under the hot tap, squeeze it out and then add a drop of zoflora. Use it to wipe down desk, phone, and shelves.
