Steam cleaner for rug

My DP won't let me get the rug I want for the front room as he says it will be hard to clean. I could steam clean it easily but wondered what mumsnetters would recommend for this job. I can't spend too much as the rugs expensive and Ideally it would clean the hard kitchen floor too for value for money. Any suggestions?

I bought this before Christmas and love it. This is the third steamer that I have purchased and it is the cheapest. But it is by far the best. I love the way you have the option of detergent. I use the detergent on my really grubby kitchen floor or bathroom floors but on the wooden floors I just use the steam. I feel this was a very good purchase and if you are contemplating buying a steam cleaner then this is a great one to choose.
