Keeping sandwich toaster clean.

We often have toasted sandwiches as a snack/light meal but I'm fed up of having to clean it after every use. The cheese oozes out all over the place! Apart from not using cheese is there anything I could do/use to stop it getting in such a mess?

We threw ours out. Twice.

Possible to do gorgeous toasties on a stainless steel frying pan. I did one today, cheese, ham and tomato sliced thinly.
Butter outside of this sandwich and slap it on a preheated pan, not screaming hot or it will burn your toastie before the cheese has melted.
It's important to put cheese on each slice of bread with your ham and tomato on top.
Once you've placed the toastie on the hot pan you press it down with your hand or anything you have handy.
Give it a minute or two, check whether it's browned nicely by lifting a corner of your toastie.
Flip it over awfully and serve with a good tomato soup.
Best ever comfort lunch.

PS you need a stainless steel pan because you can get this nice and hot without adding oil to the pan first.
A non stick pan would overheat and give off some kind of noxious fumes....

I got a toaster maker with removable plates that go in the dishwasher think it's a breville

I use my George Foreman to make toasties. Really easy to clean

I put a piece of greaseproof paper on the bottom half and that tends to catch the cheese. You can use the same piece a few times.

Toaster bags are really good for keeping mess to a minimum

We make them in the George foreman too, really easy to clean.

Sandwich toaster is a doddle - we wipe it over as its cooling with kitchen paper

It also has removable plates so every now and again the plates go in the dishwasher
