Do you have 'garden shoes' kept by the back door?

Am often popping out into garden - to feed birds, to put stuff in bins, pick herbs etc. Until recently I used to have slippers with rubber soles which were OK if they got a bit damp - easily wiped when I came in.
Got lovely new slippers for Christmas, but have material soles, so I need something to keep by the back door to change into.

DH has some suede slip-on things from Cotton Traders (old codger that he is!) www.cottontraders.com/lightweight-suede-slip-ons/invt/aq12190

Any suggestions?

I use DH's Crocs for this as pop out several times a day to our recycling bins

RichardHead · 18/01/2017 12:53

Yes, DH came back from IKEA once with some hideous black croc type things. Only to be seen in the back garden, but, I've been getting lazy and wearing them to take the bin to the front of the house. Slippery slope, I'll be wearing them to Tesco next Confused

Welly clogs, not Hunter but cheap floral things from a garden shop. DH has last-but-one slip on shoes.

Ankle boot wellies from aldi!

PotatoMcKale · 18/01/2017 13:01

I chopped the top off my old wellies to turn them into garden clogs, they're brilliant

girlandboy · 18/01/2017 13:03

Wellies. But now I think I ought to get some cheap garden clogs. They look far easier Smile

Floralnomad · 18/01/2017 13:05

I have crocs at the back door .

wonkylegs · 18/01/2017 13:28

I have a 'really attractive' pink with strawberries pattern pair of garden clogs that cost me a whole £1 in home bargains for toddling out to the garden quickly & proper welly's when I venture out properly to do gardening. The great thing about the hideous pink things is no matter how hard I try I cannot lose them and nobody else ever wants to borrow them so they are always there when I need them.

Laineylou · 18/01/2017 13:30

Yes hideous brown leather 'man' mules...known as 'The Sandals of Necessity' and used by everyone

NoNeedToArgue · 18/01/2017 13:38

I have an old pair of white Birkenstocks which I never got on with wearing in real life. They're a size 6 but DH has worn them so often they have now stretched to fit his size 11 feet Hmm

Thingywhatsit · 18/01/2017 13:42

My flip flops are always left by door - just been out in them (whilst wearing socks!!!!!) to hang the washing out! Only have 2 pairs of shoes I wear - my flat winter boots and 1 pair of flip flops. I am trying to expand shoe collection but struggling to find ones that fit. (Pair of trainers arrived today and they fit so that's a bonus!)

megletthesecond · 18/01/2017 13:46

Yes.

A downgraded pair of sheepskin boots and a pair of crocs.

mistermagpie · 18/01/2017 13:49

I have a pair like AlreadyGone's but from Aldi because I'm poor. Buying them was the thing that made me realise I'm old....

steppemum · 18/01/2017 13:50

I have a pair of closed crocs, like the blue ones AlreadyGone posted, dh and I both us them to let the chickens out, take the compost etc.

Bravas · 18/01/2017 13:52

Seems like lots of backdoors with Crocs by them. We do too, although cheapo version, they're DH's really but handy as I can fit my feet in without taking my slippers off.

SurelyYoureJokingMrFeynman · 18/01/2017 14:03

Yep, garden clogs here too. Marvellous things: good in snow and muck, abandoned at doormat so never trek anything in.

Gameboy · 18/01/2017 14:10

Righto... I'll be off to the garden centre to find some clogs then !

www.mahabis.com/slippers/reinvented

Bought these for OH for Xmas - they are slippers with step-in outdoor soles.

If OP was an ad for Cotton Traders, then this is competition!

FromIbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 18/01/2017 14:22

DP and I have Crocs (strictly only for the garden, not to be seen in public Wink ).

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 18/01/2017 14:25

Crocs here too, in a variety of colours and sizes.

billabye · 18/01/2017 14:28

Bright red crocs that get hidden if we have guests Grin

Gameboy · 18/01/2017 23:01

Blossom - wasn't meant to be an ad for Cotton Traders!

Have seen ads for those mahabis, but £80! Shock Always struck me as a bit over-engineered?
