make it as solid as possible, how about gravel?

NbgsYellowFeathers · 23/02/2007 12:33

Expandable foam.

NbgsYellowFeathers · 23/02/2007 12:34

and then cement over it.

pesme · 23/02/2007 12:34

and then move

We used the above items after a pregnant rat decided to use our home as a labour suite.
Its worked, thank god!

NbgsYellowFeathers · 23/02/2007 12:40

I've got to go down this route too I think - caught and disposed of mum and have been clearing up dead babies ever since....yuck!

southeastastra · 24/02/2007 10:57

i spent ages fixing the hole and sealing up any gaps, then put down a trap. this morning a mouse had taken up residence in there. grr where are they coming from?

OP posts:
PandaG · 24/02/2007 10:59

mice can get in through a hole the same diameter as a biro! So have you got any really small holes too?

southeastastra · 24/02/2007 11:03

a biro? yes there are probably really really small gaps, more polyfilla then

OP posts:
PandaG · 24/02/2007 11:05

yep - a biro - amazing eh! I learnt that on a food hygiene course, made me inspect my door frames I can tell you. Apparently a rat only needs a hole the diameter of a 50p (same source!)

pesme · 25/02/2007 20:38

oh shte, serves me right for being flippant on this thread, we have got the little shtes now too. we haven't a hope of blocking the holes. will poison be enought or should be get a cat?

southeastastra · 26/02/2007 08:14

i had to buy some mice killer as they have got into the front shed where dp keeps his precious comics! they are little boxes with poison in them, i don't like doing it and would rather catch them alive but there seems to be quite a few of them..

southeastastra · 02/03/2007 08:22

i've found a dead one in the 'humane' trap. my son asked if it had killed itself, i wouldn't mind but next door have two cats, they're just not let out
