As the title says really. Massive argument last night over sorting his stuff. I can't have the bedroom like this anymore. He will basically pile magazines up and then use it as a table because there is already stuff cluttered on his bedside table. He feels I don't respect his stuff I do I just want the bedroom to be a room; with no clutter because it's affecting my sleep.its at the back of my mind at night. How can I deal with this? Without anymore issues.

It's his room too, what ever you decide it's got to be a compromise.

Depends what the stuff is cluttering up, and if the things have a proper place that he's just not using, or if it's actually rubbish?

It's definitely stuff without a home. Yet moans when I actually find them a home and organise it!

I don't want to take sides, but basically you think it hasn't a home, he thinks it's just in the right place. Would a bookcase and box files next to the bed work?

AuntieStella · 10/01/2017 10:08

Yes, I wouldn't like other people organising my stuff in my bedroom either.

You need to talk about this, as you both need to be comfortable. It's the same debate as what to do when the person who can't sleep with the window open marries the person who can't sleep with it closed. There is no one answer, and no one person's view automatically dominates.

Is there any way you can turn this into an affectionate joke? That would at least take some of the heat out of the issue whilst you both work to a compromise.
