Does anyone have a round kitchen bin?

This is going to sound quite daft but after years of having a square kitchen bin,we bought a large round, stainless steel type bin for the kitchen which I really liked the look of.
The problem is everytime we(dh)empty it,the bag gets ripped. We don't over fill it and any boxes etc...are torn up prior to placing in the bin and we don't buy the cheaper black sacks either.

Does anyone else have this problem and are there "special" bags for these bins? I can't believe how many rows we're having over a kitchen bin-dh wants our old square one back, but I'm determined to find a solution and keep the new bin.

errr, yes, and we don't have ripped bags. I buy good black sacks, and don't fill it too much at all. I think your black sacks must be crap.

Umm...I DO buy the thicker ones.Maybe I should look for industrial strength ones next time.

You can buy special bags for the brabantia bins. Quite pricey but worth it. Or if you go to Costco their big box of (white) bin bags is great value and the bags are very strong.

Hmm - I have a brabantia round one and you can buy the specialist bags for it - blooming expensive though (bin was a pressie) Our's doesn't snag so perhaps it's just overfilling (as we don't use industrial strength bags...come to think of it, I overfill aswell!!)

Perhaps your DH has a secret love of square bin and tears the bags on purpose when he changes the sack?

Bubbaloo · 21/02/2007 13:54

-maybe he does!

I actually changed the bag myself yesterday and it ripped in about 4 places-very frustrating.

I have a round brabantia one but I sure as hell don't pay for the special sacks

we use the ones that the council leave; they fit inside and they're strong

I have a round bin and have normal bin bags I buy from Costco.

Hulababy · 21/02/2007 13:59

I have the Brabantia 50l round bin. I use the Brabantia bin liners too - £1.95 for 10 - no problems with tearing, etc. at all and ours do get overfilled at times!

Hooray - another bin thread -twice in a week - must be national bin week sponsored by Brabantia

Actually it is 'One Bin Day' today - though it's aimed at businesses rather than homes.
