HELP ME ESTABLISH A ROUTINE PLEASE

I want to get on top of my house
we both work full time so not got huge pockets of time midweek

i want to make a spreadsheet with daily tasks and weekly tasks and monthly tasks

those of you who have a tidy house-what should go in each section?
what are the essentials?

My daily essentials are at the end of the day making sure the kitchen sink is clear with all cutlery, plates, etc, put away, tidy up of the living room and tidy up of our bedroom. I find waking up to a new day with those rooms sorted makes the house seem much better for it. Then its just a weekly clean of kitchen, bathrooms (i put bleach down the loo's inbetween though), and hoover of all floors. Keep at ds to keep his room too. Weekly bed linen change too. Then monthly i do polish of living room and clean windows. Then the oven gets done 3 or 4 times a year (worst chore ever).

Mine works if you already have a tidy house with minimal clutter, no small children, no pets and no shoes inside!

Daily
Air house.
Air beds.
Quick tidy of all rooms. Everything back in its place.
Recycling and rubbish out.
Washing up done and kitchen sides cleaned (usually twice a day).

Weekly
Clean bathroom.
Vacuum downstairs.
Mop downstairs.
Clean drying rack, draining board and sink.
Clean kitchen bin lid.

Fortnightly
Vacuum upstairs.
Dust all low and medium surfaces.
Dust Venetian blinds (my least favourite job).
Clean mirrors and screens.
Change bedding.

Monthly
Clean 'fridge.
Clean kitchen cupboard doors and splashbacks.
Clean cutlery holder.
Maintenance wash of washing machine.

Quarterly
Clean windows (inside. The window cleaner does outside).
High dusting.
Clean woodwork.

Six monthly
Clean inside kitchen cupboards.
Clean external window frames, sills and external doors.
Clean hob burners and oven.
Clean washing machine dispenser.

We keep our house fairy clean and tidy.

I wash down the kitchen cupboard fronts while I cok Sunday lunch, I clean the bathrooms while DC are in the bath - I hoover twice a week but main open plan maybe twice a day unless we are all out at work etc.

We put a wash on each morning without fail and I check towels, cushion cupboards, jackets etc and fill up the load as needed.

I grocery shop on Sundays and batch cook so that frees up a good hour some nights for cleaning or whatever. It also prevents mess being created that night too.

Weekly I find handy to split by room. E.g.
Monday - bedrooms. Change beds, dust/Hoover/quick tidy. Laundry - bedding
Tuesday - bathrooms. Clean/mop, empty bins. Laundry - towels
Wednesday - kitchen. Laundry - whites
Thursday - living room. Laundry darks
Friday - entrance/halls. Laundry mixes
Saturday laundry delicates/wool

Daily - try to start and end the day with a quick tidy of kitchen and living room and put away clothes. Ensure dishes are done, work tops clean.

Monthly - I have a long list of less regular tasks and note when I do them. Things like cleaning the kitchen cupboards/drawers, washing pillows and duvets, defrosting the freezer or washing windows.

Placemarking as I struggle terribly with sort of thing.

Big jobs such as oven and inside of cupboards only get done when ils visit approximately quarterly.

The only way that the weekly clean is bearable is the daily tidy. We both share all the jobs.

I keep a clean house but I don't have a schedule, except for bedding and towels, but even then I might do them sooner if weekly isn't enough for any reason. I just tidy always and clean anything that's dirty. What that looks like in practice I don't know but I found having a cleaning day was just awful so this suits me. I have dogs so I vacuum at least once, usually twice a week. I see tasks that need to be done, like the fridge or under the sink storage area, and I do them when I next have a moment. Most tasks in themselves don't take long and I don't like to spend any of my time angsting over cleaning so I just do it when I see it. I'm the same at work. No to do lists as that in itself just becomes another chore! Perhaps, if you're starting from a cluttered a dirty house, you will need to set aside some time and get on top of it.

Following with interest. Don't want to hijack or create samey thread... but would love to know how anyone has kept an orderly home with a newborn.

Back to - dh took ds food shopping on a Saturday morning and I cleaned in peace in that time when he was a newborn. They still do this actually and he's 4

I found that I could hoover and clean the bathroom whilst running a bath as the white noise chilled him out.

I cooked when dh got home as I couldn't work out a way to get that done until we had naps in the cot sorted at 3 months

With a newborn .. I did online shopping and cleaned when dcs napped or when sh was about. I nearly left dh at one point as it came to a head that I did most of the wife work. Five years on after moving in together he has massively stepped up
