My washing machine is leaking from the bottom, any ideas why?

Hi, like I say in the title my washing machine started to leak from the bottom, its only 14 months old and I have no idea why its doing it. We have pulled it out and looked at the pipes and it looks all ok and the fittings are still tight. Have also emptied out the filter twice and its still doing it. This is the second time the stupid thing has gone wrong and the filter fixed it. Any ideas would be appreciated otherwise I will have to call somebody out again.

TIA

Is it deffo coming from underneath or could it be running down the back and underneath the machine ? That was what was happening with my old one. It looked like it was dripping from underneath, but when I turned it over the bottom of the machine was entirely sealed and there was no way there could have been a leak through a crack on the botom.

Yeah the floor behind the washing machine is completely dry, (the dust is still dry!), all the water is in front of the washing machine. When we take out the filter and it starts dripping it drips from the right hand side which is where most of the water is coming from.

check the seal around the door. is there a hole or tear in it?

Egypt · 20/02/2007 13:55

is it dripping even though its not running?

Aufish · 20/02/2007 14:02

The seal is fine, no water from the door thats another place we checked. The machine is on at the moment and just checked where the wet is again and it is running from the right side of the machine when the machine is filling up not at any other time and it just comes out a bit, not all the water IYKWIM.

is it coming from the pipe that fixes to the drawer. can you see that clearly still attached?

Aufish · 20/02/2007 14:15

I hadn't thought of there, will go and investigate. Wouldn't have minded if the washing machine was old, but its not and like I say its not the first time its gone. My last washing machine lasted me 7 years and only went wrong once and that was when it was 5 years old. Why aren't things made to last any more?

aufish - the washing machine companies wouldn't make any money then

Very good, liked that one. Just had the washing machine man out and the door seal has a little nick in it so it leaking. I thought that when the seal went that it would leak from the door but obviously I was wrong! Going to be at least Wednesday before its fixed, all I can say, is that I'm going to have to call in a favour with my friend to do my washing for me. Good thing I'm such a shopaholic that the kids have plenty of clothes to get through til then, its only really the school uniforms that need to be done.
