Washer dryer or separate dryer in the garage?

Moving house soon and need to decide whether to take our Miele washing machine with us or buy a washer/dryer for the new house. No space for a separate dryer in new house so if we take our washing machine then we'd look to put a dryer in the garage.

Our washing machine is really good (and not very old) but I'm put off by having to go outside to get to the dryer.

Washer dryers get pretty bad press, but have they improved in recent years? We could spend a decent amount on one (though sadly not Miele washer/dryer prices).

Any suggestions or recommendations?

We used to have a vented tumbledryer in the garage. We bought a really cheap special box for the hose to go into so we didn't have to make a hole in the garage wall. Can't remember what the box was called but I'm sure Amazon will sell one. It worked really well. You just had to empty it every 3 or 4 times you used the dryer.

We rented a house last year with a washer dryer. It was crap at drying.

We've got a washer dryer and it's fine. As others have said it can't dry as big a load as it washes, but I only tumble dry towels and socks, vests, etc so not a problem for me. If you tumble dry a lot of washing a separate tumble drier might be better. But most of our stuff seems to be non-tumble anyway.

Separate dryer definitely. I've never come across a good washer dryer...

Our vented dryer is in the shed at the end of the garden, it's no problem at all, means you can dry one load while washing the next and has the added bonus of improving the air circulation in the shed and ensuring no condensation/damp in cold weather. We drilled a hole in the wall to permanently fix the vent hose.!

I have a Bosch washer dryer

It's amazing!

Dries about 8 kilos in around 45 mins- 1 hour on intensive dry
