decided to buy a new toaster as the one we have only half toasts the bread , any recommendations?

The OP asked for personal recommendations. I have the same problem with my toaster. It's not very old and it wasn't particularly cheap. I'd really like a toaster which toasts both sides of the bread evenly.

Mine annoys me as it spills crumbs if you so much as breathe on it!
