Cleaning fabric sofas

just wondering how people freshen up their sofas?

I have a fabric stain remover for any mess my 3yr old leaves but that is used on specific areas.
I also Hoover the sofa but I'm curious to know how people keep it smelling fresh and looking good?
What products people use or homemade products?
I'm too scared to put the cushion cases and things in the wash as it was an expensive sofa and I really don't want to ruin it.

I use this upholstery cleaner on my sofas. It's absolutely brilliant! Used it on sofa and chairs and they look like new. Also used it on car upholstery, where a large stain on passenger seat looked unsightly. Completely erased! Definitely worth the money.
