The label says to use pure soap only or specialist cleaner(regatta isotex???) which sounds expensive.

Nikwax is another one, I think.

FATEdestiny · 16/12/2016 12:53

I do my kid's on a rinse cycle with only water. It's only mud after all. I assume you mean the plastic-y ones without a lining.

Nikwax techwash.

Although just plain water will get most my off, be very careful to make sure there is no detergent in the drawer from previous washes though

CMOTDibbler · 16/12/2016 12:55

If it was cheap, non technical stuff, I'd use a delicates liquid on a cool wash.
Technical stuff gets Nikwax tech wash

LottieDoubtie · 16/12/2016 12:55

Either soap flakes- by that I mean flake off a bit of a bar of soap.

Nikwax techwash- which is expensive.

Or, yes plain water will 'do'.

It's to do with protecting the waterproof coating

Wilko do liquid soapflakes which is very gentle

I always wash mine with a specialist product otherwise you affect the waterproofing and ideally you need to reproof (other product) after washing them with anything. You can wash and reproof in a normal washing machine
If they are decent waterproof trousers they are worth the cost if they are just pack away type cheap waterproof trousers it may be as cheap just to buy new ones.
All of the outdoors type shops sell this type of stuff I stock up when this type of shop has a sale e.g Mountain Warehouse just had a big sale so did Millets, we also have a Tresspass shop near us which has a permanent half price on all stock deal. My last bulk buy was when I visited a Go Outdoors outlet. I'm sure also Amazon and Ebay would sell this stuff as well.

Expensive ski gear-nikwax to protect the waterproofing. Cheap waterproof trousers for in the dry slope-just water.

ChopsticksandChilliCrab · 16/12/2016 13:05

I fill the bath with water and put a squirt of fairy liquid in to wash waterproof trousers. Sounds like I am doing it wrong though!

I do the same as tea. Quiz on the website and collect the free samples throughout the year.
