Lipgloss on upholstery

I somehow managed to get lipgloss on my new cream upholstered dressing table stool. I have blotted the stain with cold water but how can I remove it safely.

I did google and hairspray was recommended but don't want to make it worse, liquid detergent or upholstery cleaner.

you won't make it worse with this cleaner just apply some of it to your stool leave it for a couple of minutes and then clean it off with a sponge. That should clean it straight off.
