We are having work done and for 8 weeks, our fridge/freezer was in storage. We've cleaned it back up and its working perfectly from a cold/freeze perspective. However there is a horrible chemical smell that's lingering in the fridge that I can't shift and its tainting the flavour of some foodstuff. I've looked online but that talks about ammonia smells and that it impacts on the fridges performance. This is a chemical smell but the fridge is working fine.
I'm panicking that I'm going to feed my guests a Christmas dinner with a weird aftertaste of chemicals!

Any ideas on what it might be and how to remove it in a week??

Was it lying on its side? It could be that the gases are settling again.
Cup of instant coffee granules in the fridge, change every day and it should shift the smell. Before you do that make a bicarbonate of soda paste and scrub the inside of the fridge thoroughly.

Fantastic, I will give that a go. It wasn't on its side in storage but was when in the van so maybe it is just settling again.
