How best to clean the rug?

I have a large cream woollen rug. It's got several dirty marks of dubious origin, so what's the best spot cleaner?

I could never give it a good wash and hang it on the line as it weighs a ton! Used the 'Rug Doctor' on it once with good results but don't relish the idea of lugging that great thing home in the car!

Astonish carpet/upholstery cleaner spray is v good for this, you can get it on line from Astonish website (can't remember details but comes up on google) or prob from J Lewis or Lakeland.
