Am looking for a new vacuum cleaner as my old just packed up on me:-( I've got about £200 spend and am looking for something with good suction and will be good on both hard and soft floors?

Thanks

Ive got the dyson v6 animal it was £199 in the summer. I think the v8 has better specs but it was almost double at the time. I love mine, its cordless, light and I think has a running time of 20 minutes but its has a switch to keep hold of so you dont 'waste time' moving furniture. Obviously because its cordless its so easy to just nip out and give the car a once over. It has good suction on carpet and is ok on laminate although I sweep and mop mine so havent really noticed. It also helped rid a massive flea invasion we couldn't get rid of, fleas were gone -touch wood- in a matter of weeks after using it.

I've got a Dyson animal as well. It's slight more expensive then the £200 budget you had in mind but it's well worth the money.

If you have multiple floor types you need either a cylinder with different cleaner heads for carpet & hard floors or an upright with brushroll on/off. The reason being for carpets, it's best to use a brushroll to sweep out the hairs, dust and lift the pile. On a hard floor, you don't want this or it will scratch.

Miele Cat & Dog is a good choice for a cylinder or a Sebo Felix for uprights.

On a tighter budget, a Henry Xtra is a good choice.
