Can you help me work out what the smell is?
My bedroom smells. Like an old persons house!

I've stripped and cleaned the bed (and washed the quilt)
Put the washing away and it still smells

The net was washed not long ago.

I've hoovered.

It still smells!

Could you have a dead mouse under the floorboards or behind some furniture?

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 28/11/2016 09:32

I was going to say dead mouse. Do you have cats? Mine are old and fat and lazy now, but used to be buggers for bringing back dead rodents and leaving them around the house.

Or have you just moved in? It could be the carpets or curtains.

Damp? Do you get condensation on the windows?

Have a sniff of the sockets, ceiling roses and light switches. Sometimes the insides can start to mealy and the smell is more like something dead and rotting than burnt plastic, which you'd expect. If you do find a switch, rose or socket smelling then you need an electrician to replace it asap.

Melt not mealy

We do have a cat but I don't think it's that kind of smell.

The window is always on vent and I have been opening them but thinking about it, it may be damp as the bed is covering the radiator at the moment.
