We desperately need a new oven but don't want to buy another rubbish one. Looking at Neff or Miele but would like someone to tell me if they're any good please!

I have a neff hide and slide - makes a huge difference for me

VilootShesCute · 25/11/2016 14:00

Thank you! That's the one we were looking at actually Smile

I have Neff pyrolytic ovens.

I love them, they clean themselves - very clever!

monkeywithacowface · 25/11/2016 14:02

I had a Neff and the oven cleaning man broke it Angry I didn't realise how great it was until we replaced with a different make. Just got a new Neff oven and it is indeed fab

BigGreenOlives · 25/11/2016 14:02

NEFF - has the sliding door but I'm not really sure what benefit it brings. It also has a steam function which we used when we first got it when baking bread but don't anymore. The NEFF service team were very good when it developed a problem & fixed it within the guarantee period without any fuss.

Madbengalmum · 25/11/2016 14:03

Dont go with the miele, had sooo many problems with their appliances, and the service is not good either. And i am not alone!

Costacoffeeplease · 25/11/2016 14:06

I think it's obvious what benefit the hide and slide is, you're not negotiating the door while trying to get things in and out of the oven! I also have the slide out racks so it's much easier to fill something like a quiche without it slopping all over the tray

takesnoprisoners · 25/11/2016 14:06

Neff is brilliant!

timeforheroes · 25/11/2016 14:14

Another Neff hide and slide here. It's fab, I love it.

BigGreenOlives · 25/11/2016 14:23

Costa I guess I managed with a normal oven door for 45 years, it's usually too hot for me to want to get close to the oven.

missyB1 · 25/11/2016 14:24

Got to be a Neff! I've always had them and I love them. We moved house in August and this house has a whirlpool oven - biggest load of crap ever! I broke it ooops! Grin got myself a lovely new Neff now Smile

BusterTheBulldog · 25/11/2016 14:25

We have a Neff-it's brilliant!

Costacoffeeplease · 25/11/2016 14:28

Yes I 'managed' with a normal door for 30 years, wouldn't want to go back to one now though Smile. It's a bit like the difference between a 20 year old Nokia and an iPhone Grin

I have a neff oven and it's ok, it heats up quickly, cooks food. But I do a lot of baking and I notice that cakes don't bake evenly, even on fan setting cup cakes on the edge of the tray will be slightly overdone.

Bloopbleep · 25/11/2016 14:36

I have a neff and it heats pizza bases from below. It also has the hiding door so no more shin bruises... and it works which is better than the last one

TheMerryWidow1 · 25/11/2016 14:52

don't get a Miele, practically impossible to get the side runners out before using the self cleaning system, I near enough break them everytime!! I'd go for a Neff again next time

VilootShesCute · 25/11/2016 23:35

Thank you you lot! Looks like a Neff may be on the cards. It's so hard to know when you haven't lived with one and used it. I hate buying this kinda thing. Really appreciate the input

Have had my Neff oven for eleven years. Best oven I have ever had. It has a pyrotechnic oven cleaning setting. It really works. You take out rungs and clean glass door. The rest is done by the oven. No chemicals!

mando12345 · 28/11/2016 10:10

Yes I've got two pyrolytic neff ovens, very pleased with them.
Lots of programmes which are very useful.

Clankboing · 28/11/2016 10:11

Neff hide and slide. It cleans itself too!

VilootShesCute · 28/11/2016 14:31

I hate cleaning ovens. Worst job. The one we are looking at has that pyrolytic thing so I am very excited to hear that it works!

I had a Neff for 8 years and loved it but when I went to replace it the build quality was not as good as the older versions. Then I looked around and visited the showroom ( in Abingdon ) for Miele.

It was amazing the demonstration and service were second to none. I was easily converted to Miele, and have been very happy with it - I then followed up with Miele steam oven and microwave. I did have a problem with the steam oven and they came out within the week and sorted it.

Next on the list is a Miele Induction hob.

fairislecable · 28/11/2016 18:43

Forgot to add - for the wonderful self cleaning oven you don't need to remove the slide runners or the rack you can leave them in and they too are sparkling clean with no effort.

whyohwhy000 · 29/11/2016 06:54

Miele ovens aren't particularly great, but their washing machines are fab.
