I've got a waterproof jacket and it's starting to get dirty, whats the best way to clean it?

Doesn't it have washing instructions? Mine just goes in the washing machine.

Youre best to use something like Nikwax to wash them with, which re-waterproofs them in the wash, otherwise normal detergent will make them lose their waterproofing.

I use Nikwax to wash my hubbys waterproof jacket. As Bex107 said it also re waterproofs the clothing.

WordGetsAround · 19/11/2016 16:16

Definitely Nikwax

You can buy it in all the main outdoor shops

Another vote for the nikwax washing stuff, followed by (the right) reproofer if necessary. Follow the washing instructions though - sometimes cheaper waterproofs enjoy a tumble dry.

Actually, some expensive goretex (and probably other types of membrane) waterproofs should also be tumbledried, read the care label.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 19/11/2016 16:44

Ah, I've never owned expensive goretex Grin I'm a Paramo person Wink

Footle · 19/11/2016 16:48

ItsAll, Paramo is hardly a cheap alternative !

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 19/11/2016 16:52

Sorry I want saying it was cheap, I was saying I would rather spend the money in Paramo, rather than a crisp packet that only lasts a few months

Damn right, ItsAll.
