Cleaning a wool duvet in winter

Just got it out of storage and there's a big spillage mark on it that must have been missed when putting it away. It's a Devon Duvet one, the heaviest weight. Instructions say it's to be line dried, but that'll take weeks in winter, it would probably go mouldy before it actually dried. I'm wary about putting that much wool in the tumble dryer. It'll need some detergent to try and get the biggest mark off, so would need rinsing. Wash part of it, maybe?

And would spraying Vanish on it be bad for it?

Can't you bring it to the launderette?

Dry Clean? I wash and tumble dry all duvets before storage. Perhaps wool would shrink?

I would wash it, then put it in my smallest room with the heating on full pelt in that room until it's dry, or alternatively buy or borrow a dehumidifier and put that on in a small room to dry.

It specifically says do not dry clean on the label.
The website is clearer about drying. It can be spin dried and line dried, but not tumble dried with heat: www.devonduvets.com/devon-duvets-product-care

It was packed up last time in a hurry during removals.

mando12345, that is the best idea so far. I might just wash part of it in the bath and then do that, and the whole thing can be washed properly when it gets warmer again.

Line dried doesn't necessarily mean outside. As long as you dry it flat(ish) inside it will be fine

Spot clean the area with gall soap. Can you hang over banisters or similar until dry?

That looks interesting. I'd already started washing the duvet (part of) by the time I saw your post though. How long does a bottle last? Is it comparable in effectiveness to standard synthetic stain removers?

These wool duvets are very warm but a faff to wash. It is too bulky to fit into a domestic washing machine, so it'll 'll need to be taken to a laundrette and then brought home wet. At least feather ones can just about be stuffed into the machine at home. With hindsight, not sure we'd buy it again.

The bottle lasts ages and works best on protein type stains.
