How much do your DCs pay for housekeeping?

I'm discussing the future with DS vis a vis his options for year 12 and paying housekeeping has cropped up.

How much, percentage wise, is the going rate these days? I started work too many moons ago to remember how much I gave my lovely mum

You'll get lots of different answers. When I was first working, I paid a third of my wages to my parents.

£200 per month. But they are both working full time at the mo. Nothing when studying. If not studying but part time, 20%.

The agreement with my Mum was a third for housekeeping, a third to save and a third to spend.
Mum actually saved the housekeeping up for me and when I first moved out it helped me pay the deposit, first few months rent and redecorating costs, which was lovely of her. I was very lucky.

You only charge them in year 12 if you are in very challenging financial circumstances and struggling to pay the rent/ electricity bill, and they have a part time job. Surely?

You'll still get child benefit if you are under the earning threshold, which is to compensate you for supporting them to stay in education if you want to look at it that way!

I didn't stay I was looking to charge him in year 12 just that he was looking at options for year 12, what career he might be aiming for, what salary he aspires to earn and housekeeping cropped up .
