my dishwasher smells

I hate the fact that it smells as I have started to think of it as unhygenic. Is this something that just happens to dishwashers or am I doing somehting wrong? Have only had one for two months.

Another thing is the smell is worse since I changed to fairy tablets when the finish ones ran out, but could be as time goes on rather than this in particular.

More ideas?

Agree, I think all Fairy stuff is awful.
Are you washing out the filter at the bottom regularly ?

Make sure you leave the door ajar after you have finished a cycle and leave the air to circulate - keeping the door shut will keep not let it air at all.

Anisse has the key! I had exactly the same problem with my dishwasher, turned out the filter was full of gunk. Check your manual on how to empty it. On mine there is a filter that you just lift out and then one underneath that you have to remove the arm thingy to get to.
