OMG Oven door!

Have just cleaned my minging oven door with a dishwasher tablet! Ten minutes later it's bloody sparkling

Really wished I'd taken a before picture because it's bloody amazing and no effort at all!

Did you just rub it all over? I assume you wet it first? Just wondering as I might try it

Yeah, just dipped the end in and rubbed it over - it was magic I tell you!

does it do the rest of the oven?

Don't know about the rest of the oven, mustn't overdo it on a Monday!

was the oven door warm? It didn't work for me when I tried and I'm trying to work out why.

My oven was stone cold when I did it, I did dip the tablet in warm water though.

So these are the hard tablets, not the gel ones?

Cold door, cold water - it sort of melted off!

I need to do this, I used to get a man in to clean my manky oven. But he charged £75 last time and I'm not sure the oven is even worth that.

I think I'm going to try this later. Wild. I have seen it mentioned on here before but am skeptical as the tablets seem like they would be too hard and just scratch at the glass?!

OP I'm blaming you for that burst of activity that just took place in my kitchen. It's certainly a lot cleaner than it was, but not sparkling, and my arm is throbbing! I didn't find it easy by any means!

Well I tried it and it worked for me!

I was expecting to use the bottom of the tab but the end worked better. Didn't work on the rest of the oven though unfortunately. But I figured by that point I might as well clean the whole chuffing thing.

I ran the tablet under the hot tap, them scrubbed the oven door with it..nothing. It skidded over the caked in crap.

Agggh. Please help I really can't afford the £75 man to clean my oven right now.

cover it with bicarb Overscentedfanjo and then splosh a a bit of white vinegar over it leave a few mins scrub with green end of several sponges till clean not as easy as the dishwasher tablet sounded but it does work

Thanks, I have bicarb but no white vinegar, only brown vinigar.

I did it a few months ago when there was a previous thread.
I had a jug of warm water and kept dipping the tab (supermarket value).
I used a scourer and kind of held the tablet against the glass with the flat of the scourer so I could hold it more easily and rub with the scourer at the same time.
It did take a bit of effort as well, not just a quick wipe over and it was gleaming. Probably 15/20 mins, although 5 mins the next time a month or so later.

The second time I tried it I wore rubber gloves as the extended exposure to the tablet had played havoc with my skin - which I don't generally have any problems with.

I also soaked the shelves in hot water with a tablet dissolved in, again needed a bit of effort afterwards but the black burnt on stuff came off very easily. I normally put the shelves through the dishwasher when I want to clean them but this was better.

What level of minging was your door?
Mine is level 5 ( pitch black).
I ran to the the oven and tried this as soon as I read it. Didn't work so well.

It's hard to judge level of mingingness - I don't go round looking at other people's. But I'm not majorly into cleaning (!!) and probably hadn't touched the over door since Christmas?
Previously I've used Mr Muscle or similar.
It was burnt on, but more brown than black and opaque rather than obscured.

Ah, yes. I think maybe mine is too minging. It hadn't been cleaned for a while several years
