How long do you keep yours?
I have statements, receipts and letters going back years.
I want to burn it all. Am a bit scared that I will and then will get a "we contacted you in 2010" letter.

Normally about 2 years, 6 years max. Except a few things; for example I have every P60 I have ever had etc.

Kris, I keep bank statements and bills for 2 years, tax information for 6 or 7, then there's things to keep indefinitely, eg work contracts, pension statements.
A good tip I read on MN is to file all items from one year together.
So, instead of having credit card bills, council tax bills, payslips, etc in separate subject files, I've got them in a "2016" document wallet, or a couple if needed.
If anything is needed, you only have one year to look through, and I've found it's quicker to put things away.
