Dishwasher hacks

Through the power of Mumsnet I've degunked my washing machine and got my oven glass super sparkling so now I need to sort my dishwasher out.

I have had 3 dishwashers in my house over the years and tried every brand of dishwasher tablet, so why is it that the stuff in the bottom comes out shiny and clean with no trace of food ever being on it but the top comes out splattered in brown/orange gritty stuff, every bloody time! 

the top shelf ickyicky is likely due to the top arm being blocked or not spinning round properly

they clip off, or sometime unscrew the wrong way and once you get them off it's usually quite the revelation as to the amount of sweetcorn in there

and obv make sure all the holes are clear

Tondelaya has it. Something is stuck in the arm, like a sliver of plastic film or bit of sweetcorn. Waggle a paper clip in all the holes.
