Stained conservatory blinds - how to clean?

We removed our conservatory blinds last October to have the conservatory decorated. We put the blinds in the greenhouse, meaning to put the blinds back up a week or two later. Last weekend we got them out to brush them down and put them up again but sadly a few of them are water stained. Doh. Stupid of us to leave it so long. The blinds are the wooden type. Has anyone got any ideas of how to go about cleaning them. One or two of them are really bad with mildew which wipes off with a damp cloth but then leaves a water stain underneath. I could cry.

Hi

The best way to clean water stained wooden blinds is to mix lemon juice and salt with warm water and use this to clean the wood. It will not leave a mark and will kill off the bacteria and mould growths.

My nephew works for a conservatory blinds company and he says after installing new blinds they dust them with anti-static cloths to stop the build up of dust. I would presume that this works not only on Conservatory Blinds but all kind of styles and designs.

"I have tried many different ways to clean dirty and greasy exterior blinds, and the best way i have found is putting very warm water in the bath tub, with degreaser or pine oil and laundry soap. About 1-1/2 cups laundry soap and 1 cup pine oil to 1/4 tub of water. put blinds in and soak for 1/2 hour moving them around to get the solution between the blinds. Let the water out and rinse well. Then i take them outside and put them on the deck, or fence to air dry. It works well for me." - I followed this trick and worked wonders for me..
