Burnt popcorn in microwave

My son left his popcorn in the microwave for too long Angry
Came in from work to an acrid smokey smell permeating through the house. How on earth do I get rid of the smell? I've had Windows and doors open for as long as I could bear the cold. Please, any idea?

Try half a lemon in a bowl of water in the microwave for 5 mins. Will need to wipe the inside down after.
