Washing machine staining whites please help pics included

Have you cleaned the filter, the dispenser drawer and the space the drawer fits into, the rubber seal and run a hot wash with no clothing in? Soda crystals or vinegar can be used in the hot wash too

Thanks. I use the liquid tablets so hadn't checked dispenser drawer. It's not bad but I'll wash it so thank.

I'll google what a filter is though. That's probably the problem seeing as I don't know what it is ....... So haven't washed it.

I clean rubber occasionally but not regularly.

Sorry where shall I put the vinegar and how much when I do a hot wash???? And by hot wash do you just mean a normal cycle but empty?

Liquids are not as good for the machine as powders as they don't contain bleaches which can cause sludge build up in the drum. Vinegar can go in the drum and a hot wash is 90 degrees.

Did you take the drawer out and check the roof of the slot it fits into as it can get mould build up too? I use bleach spray and an old toothbrush to clean that bit

clean the filter? My least favorite job ever. Put a bowl under it when you open it, I always get a gush of stinky water.Also maybe filling the machine up too much? You can tell I get the same problems myself.:)

Perhaps to do with overfilling but why would that made the stains appear?
I'm worried that the mouldy scummy stuff is in the pipe that leads from the soap dispenser into the machine where I can't reach.
I may buy something more powerful than vinegar if this doesn't work.

Soda cystals in the powder dispenser and hot empty wash will clean out the pipes. Necessary on a regular basis if you use liquid conditioner.

The scummy stuff could be from build up in the drum due to using liquid detergent. Have you thought of using powder?

Yeah I guess i could. It was was just easier to lob tablet on I thoughT. I can switch to powder of course, Shame I have a massive amount of liquid tablets to get through first .......
I've never heard of soda crystals.

They are in a bag near the clothes washing stuff, normally with the stain remover type stuff. Powder tablets would be ok too. You could get some of each and mix and match what you use

Has it started making a lot of knocking and banging noises when spinning? If so, that could be the bearings "going" and when that happens you often get what look like rust spots on clothes, in the pattern of the holes in the drum.

Some older machines can be repaired quite cheaply when the bearings are knackered, unfortunately most of the modern ones need to be written off at that point (parts that used to be separate in ye olden days are all together in one expensive unit nowadays).

No noise at all. I'll get soda crystals and then try some whites again. Poor school uniform :(

If it's school uniform are you sure the stains weren't there before going into the machine. They look like spilt paint that hasn't quite come out or similar.

We used to get odd marks from liquid tabs when we overfilled and they didn't dissolve properly.

I see. The strange thing is if they don't dissolve properly surely they should dissolve the second time the clothes are put in the wash, not leave a permanent mark! I'll be careful not to overload generally as I can see its been mentioned a few times.
