Carpet cleaning help

Our new baby's arrival is imminent. The dog threw up on our living room carpet last week, which started stinking after the area I washed remained damp for too long. I've since reduced the smell by pouring Ariel actilift bio laundry gel on, but I poured it on neat and the carpet is now blue, even though I've tried washing it out using sponges, etc! I then used a hairdryer to dry the area..... I think i need a professional clean!!

The carpet is synthetic, but very thick and dense. The pile is 12mm.

One of the reasons it started stinking is because it remained damp for too long after I spot washed the area.

Has anyone experience of washing their long, dense pile carpets? If I have the whole carpet done, am I likely to get a damp fusty smell afterwards? 😓😓

TIA!

I don't think you'll get rid of the blue, I'd imagine that it is stained.

Oh dear. I think you might be stuck with blue carpet, it sounds like you've bleached it.

Get it professionally cleaned. Their cleaning equipment will be powerful and won't leave it too wet. They will also know what to use to deal with the smell and the marks. If it's a polypropylene carpet it's unlikely you've bleached the colour out.
