Tumble dryer- quick question

DH has proposed we get a tumble dryer which I'm up for, but we've never had one and we didn't have one growing up so I'm a novice.

I have heard stories of some people having to leave half a load of washing lying around while the other half is in the dryer, as the dryer can't fit a whole load? Do the clothes need more room to move around in a dryer? I have a 7kg washing machine, so should I get a 7kg tumble dryer or bigger?

Also any other things I should know about a tumble dryer would be great! Thanks.

Do it! I was in the same position a month ago and I finally got one last week. It's a heat source dryer by Bosch. Think it's 9 kg. I don't tumble everything at the minute just sheets towels and undies. But it's changed my life already. I don't have things hanging over the banister to dry anymore. I love it I would highly recommend.

I would get bigger

Things get less creased if there's more space for them to float around in as it were. So I put less in for a shorter amount of time.

Dh shoves loads in the tumbler for longer than necessary and then leaves them there. They come out all creased.
Some stuff shrinks if you put it on for 120 mins and don't check it.

Depends. I'd rather spend my budget on getting a 7kg Miele or Bosch than an 8kg cheaper brand. Have recently bought my first tumble drier after using different ones on holidays / friends houses had think it's worth getting a decent one. We went 7kg as we don't overfill our washing machine either, and invariably some items get taken out of the wash before being dried.

Hmm thanks for the advice. I do not need to iron currently, hanging things to dry, so I'm waty that getting a dryer will mean we have to start ironing? :(
Also so if only half a load can fit in we'll still need to hang stuff around the house? Defeats the point really. We currently dry in the box room which we also use as a study and would be nice to not have to do that.

You'll iron less with a tumbler. It's only if you ram it absolutely full and leave it going well after clothes have dried like my Dh that stuff will get creased. The way I do it, they are crease free!

You have to hang stuff that says 'Do tumble' on the label anyway. It's only some of my clothes that applies to. Most is fine. Get one and free up your study.
