Making towels soft again

Any tips on making my towels soft and fluffy again? They always seem so hard after washing them

Add a cup of white vinegar. Sorted, soft and non-stinky towels.

Are you tumblr drying or line drying? I line dry mine and they are always scratchy (which I quite like!)! MIL tumblr dries here and they are always soft (and don't work as well!).

Why would you want soft towels? Hard and crispy that's how they should be, get you proper dry

You have to tumbledry them, preferably with dryer balls (although I've read an old tennis ball does the same job)

Air drying always makes them hard and scratchy

I haven't got a tumble dryer, I've just been line drying them, but there is public ones near me so I'll try drying them in there.
