Do i actually need a cleaner?

Cleaning around is definitely not one of my facorite activities (not that I have any fav activities that involve moving ) I live in a small flat with DS (16) and maybe hoovering around once a week will not kill me. But I work full time (often overtime, incl Saturday) and tbh coming to a messy home wouldn't bother me. But that way I feel like I'm giving bad example to my son. So my question is, has someone else feel like this and should I look out for some cleaning help (recommendations are welcome), or I should just pull my pants up and do the cleaning myself?

Just get on with it - and set jobs for your DS too, he helps make the mess he can help clean it up!

In your situation I would be giving DS chores !

if you both did chores together for 1 hour a week ( don't know how big your flat is ) then it would be done . Also you'd be teaching him life skills so he'd be able to maintain his own place in future and also be a helpful husband / partner whatever .

Make a list / timetable / roster and stick it on the fridge !

Why don't you get a weekly cleaner if you can afford it AND get your son to do the daily jobs (dishwashing or loading dishwasher, folding laundry, ironing, occasional mid-week vacuum)? That way he learns he has to do it, and you don't feel any pressure.

There shouldn't be any moral taboo in getting a cleaner. You are giving someone an income, you are freeing up your time to do fun things or priority thing such as cooking nice food or watching films with your son.

Agree with NewStartNewName if the place is not this big, both of you can manage to clean it yourself. But a cleaning lady will never be useless though. I also have a stressful full time job, but I have a cleaner for 3 hours on Sundays (when I'm at home), both of us clean and finish within 2 or 2.5 hrs, the rest 30mins we have coffee and gossip around . The house is perfectly cleaned and is ready both of my DCs adventures

I totally understand what you mean, if you can afford it, get a cleaner once a week and get DS to do some of the chores mid - week.
I hate cleaning and I hired a cleaning lady - best investment ever. Even if the apt is a tip I can still think "'tis ok until next time she comes".
I don't even have kids and no idea how people with DC manage their households but I do admire them.
